Mark Honey

Mark has had 13 years in the logistics, strategic transport planning and freight consultancy sector. 

He worked for many years as an interim manager and consultant for many third party logistics providers and major companies in their own right, such as Exel Logistics, Christian Salvesen, TDG and Wincanton.

From there, he spent a number of years working for companies on interim management projects for Marks & Spencer and Argos. He then expanded into consultancy and spent time working at a more strategic level for Steer Davies Gleave on East-West rail, for the Strategic Rail Authority’s freight team and for Transport for London.

Mark also conducted a number of public enquiries for clients requiring freight domain knowledge.  

Mark spent two years on secondment to a major electronics manufacturer and repairer developing a Pan-European reverse logistics solution – something that is still in operation today. This meant spending a large amount of time in Eastern Europe, namely the Czech Republic. 

The last three years, he spent largely working the project management sector working for a number of rail industry private sector engineering and design organisations on a number of projects such as Channel Tunnel Rail Link, the West Coast Main Line upgrade and the Alstom Pendolino project. 

He has also supported agencies on various projects with the Strategic Rail Authority, European Rail Agency and the Department for Transport. Latterly, Mark has spent time advising on information management and scoping development for the new Crossrail project and East London Line. 

He is an expert on multi-modal, freight transportation, third party logistics operations and latterly project management.  He has built up a reputation for knowledge in both areas and has also built up a formidable network of contacts and delegates, now being well known in the industry. Mark is a prominent member of the Railfreight Group, finds time to present to forums and specialist groups and has had a number of railway related articles and White Papers published over the years. Mark is a non-executive director of project management company ComplyServe.
