It's been a busy time in terms of reactivating rolling stock with many suppliers assisting us to get vehicles turned round.
MkII vehicles 9506, 5919, 5995 and 3232 are now ready apart from some odd tweaks at Barrow Hill. This gives us 9 vehicles in the active MkII fleet for the moment. Next into the Nemesis shed is 5810, followed by 5901, 5941 and 6001. 3366 completes the set.
3 TSOs and 9506 are moving out of Barrow Hill on Friday 3rd July for a crew training exercise and will be gone for over a week. The whole set will be out on 25th July for a spin to Brighton.
Meanwhile, on the MkIII front, LNWR completed its major exam on 11065 and it went straight out on hire to WSMR to strengthen trains for the recent half term period. Do you remember when train operators could do this?! It's now at DBS Crewe awaiting movement to Barrow Hill.
Many comments have been passed regarding the sleeper 10588 and what's happened to it. It's currently half way through a major exam at DBS Crewe and will move to Barrow Hill to have new exterior doors fitted and a new pantry floor. The sleeper vehicle had been very busy on training and push-pull work for the recently outshopped WSMR DVTs, then it went out on Virgin training work, so it had been worked very hard.
11071 and 11083 have recently moved to DBS Crewe after being used with WSMR. 11083 is heading down to Okehampton for a job and 11071 is now stopped for a C4 classified repair. Both will move to Barrow Hill in the near future.
Meanwhile major work is due to start on 11089 at LNWR. It requires a big exam and new wheelsets. However the wheelsets allocated to this vehicle have always been subsequently allocated to WSMR vehicles so hopefully we can finally get this done as new wheelsets are nearly ready!
However, both the MkII and MkIII vehicles will be very busy in the up and coming months, so we will keep you updated as to where we are with them!
