Retro Railtours is a new company, providing tours for enthusiasts and daytrippers. Based in the Hudderfield area, they cover the swathe of population between Manchester, Stalybridge, Huddersfield and across to Leeds. The 'Deltic Retro Scot' was the first tour for this company and operated on 30th August 2008. Subsequently, Cargo-D has provided rolling stock for Retro Railtours charters to Bristol & Bath and also to Carlisle.
James is running the first of his 2010 charters on Bank Holiday Monday May 31st. The Deltic Retro Scot 2 will operate from stations in the North to Edinburgh. It will take a circular route over the famous Settle & Carlisle railway, arriving in the Scottish capital around midday. There is the opportunity to spend 4 hours in Edinburgh before the special train returns south via the traditional route of the Class 55 'Deltics', the East Coast Main Line.
Very approximate timings are shown below, however these are subject to change, the final confirmed timings will be issued by Network Rail in due course.
The interest Class 55-wise will be the long awaited return to traffic of 55022 on two engines.
